Macbeth and his wife murder Duncan in order to gain his crown, but the bloodbath doesn't stop there, and things supernatural combine to bring the Macbeths down.
A gang of thieves plan to make their fortune by stealing a shipment of contraceptive pills from Finisham maternity hospital. They assume disguises and infiltrate the hospital, but everything doesn't go according to plan. The hypochondriac consultant Sir Bernard Cutting, Matron and the doctors and nurses at Finisham have a habit of getting in the way.
전셋집을 운영하면서 사이비 진료 행위를 하던 크리스티(John Reginald Christie: 리차드 어텐보로 분)는 아내가 집을 비운 틈을 타 천식으로 고생하는 뮤리엘(Muriel Eady: 필립스 맥마혼 분)을 집으로 불러 들인다. 자신이 고안한 최면 개스를 흡입시켜 기절시키고는 아무런 저항도 못하는 여자를 폭행하는 희열감에 들뜨는 크리스티, 끝내 뮤리엘은 목이 졸린 채 살해되고 만다. 5년후, 비어있는 3층에 티모시(Timothy John Evans: 존 허트 분) 일가가 세들어 온다. 일자무식이지만 나름대로 똑똑한 체 하는 티모시와 그의 아름다운 부인 베릴(Beryl Evans: 쥬디 기슨 분)이 싸우는 장면을 목격한 크리스티는 여인의 속살을 보고 또다시 잠들어 있던 욕망이 꿈틀거리는 것을 느끼는데. 크리스티는 그들이 원치 않던 임신을 하게 된 사실을 알고는 중절을 해주겠노라며 교묘히 접근, 같은 수법으로 베릴을 살해한다. 티모시가 아내를 살해했다는 누명을 쓰고 교수형을 당하자 어렴풋이 남편의 정체를 눈치채게 된 자신의 아내마저 죽이는 크리스티의 변태적인 살인행각은 그후로도 계속되어 마침내 그가 체포되고서야 엄청난 연쇄 살인 사건의 전모가 드러나게 된다.
"Doctor in Distress" is the fifth of the seven films in the "Doctor" series, and focuses on Sir Lancelot Spratt, Simon Sparrow's old teacher and sometimes nemesis. When the eternal bachelor Sir Lancelot injures his back and falls in love with his physiotherapist Iris Marchant, he becomes very distressed and turns to Simon for help. Simon, who now is a senior doctor at fictional Hampden Cross Hospital and hopelessly in love with aspiring actress Delia, sends him to a nature cure clinic in a vain attempt to help him lose weight, but Sir Lancelot can't get Iris off his mind and has her followed, first by a private investigator and eventually by himself. When he finally proposes, she rejects him and marries an old army major, which distresses Sir Lancelot even more.
