팀과 앨리는 캘리포니아 외곽에서 차가 고장 나자 외딴 곳에 동떨어진 한 가정집을 찾아가 신세를 지게 된다. 자신을 전도사라 소개한 남자와 러시아 여자가 살고 있는 그 집에서 팀과 앨리는 기묘한 분위기를 감지하고 불안해하지만 하룻밤을 자기로 결정한다. 그러던 중, 한밤중에 창고에 갇혀있는 한 아이를 본 앨리는 그 부부를 경찰에 신고하자고 하고, 팀은 앨리의 말대로 둘을 신고하려고 몰래 집에 숨어들지만 오히려 전도사에게 들켜 버린다. 아이의 정체에 대해 팀이 추궁을 하자 전도사는 아이에게 악마가 씌였다는 말을 하고, 이를 믿지 못하고 탈출하려는 팀과 앨리의 발걸음을 보이지 않는 힘이 막아서는데...
