Liam Joynt

CIA 요원 솔트(안젤리나 졸리)는 막 자수한 러시아 간첩을 심문하던 도중 도리어 이중첩자로 지목당하게 된다. 그의 증언에 따르면 구소련 시절 고도의 훈련을 받은 KGB 정예요원이 CIA에 침투해 있고 그 당사자가 솔트라는 것. 졸지에 그녀는 러시아 대통령과 미국 대통령을 암살할 위험인물로 낙인찍혀 버린다. 동료들의 의혹 속에 남편의 신변보호를 위해 탈출한 솔트는 그 동안 CIA 공작원으로서 익힌 모든 기술을 동원해 도주를 거듭한다. 그 과정에서 솔트를 중심으로 한 거대한 음모 역시 서서히 드러나는데...
