엔진 이상으로 이륙이 취소된 뉴욕행 비행기, 어쩔 수 없이 승객들은 부산에서 예기치 못한 하룻밤을 보내게 된다. 각자의 사연을 가진 승객들은 항공사에서 제공한 레이오버 호텔에서 서로 다른 밤을 보내고, 서로 다른 경험을 하게 된다. 잠들지 못 하는 여섯 개의 밤을 지새우고 나면 어떤 이는 다시 공항으로 돌아가지만 어떤 이는 호텔에 남는다.

종군 사진 기자였던 현재는 전쟁에서의 트라우마로 일을 그만두게 되었다. 다시 찾은 할아버지의 수목원에서 어린 시절 느꼈던 식물과의 특별한 교감을 떠올렸다. 식물로부터 살아갈 용기를 얻은 현재는 도심 속의 식물 카페를 운영하게 된다.

제주에서 외국인 불법 취업 브로커 일을 하는 이주노동자 2세 김수. 폭력전과로 출소한 수는 사회봉사로 해안을 청소하다가 바다에서 서핑하고 있는 서퍼들의 모습에 빠진다. 쓰레기통에서 우연히 주운 보드를 가지고 무작정 바다에 뛰어든 수. 그런데 제주 서퍼 해나가 위험하다며 수에게 태클을 건다. 수는 서프숍을 운영하는 똥꼬와 서퍼 해나에게 천천히 서핑을 배우게 되고, 서핑에 빠져들수록 외국인 불법 취업 브로커 일은 점점 잊게 되는데….

일은 부당계약! 사랑은 정리해고! 꿈은 열정페이! 그래도 사는 진짜 요즘 애들 ‘민규’와 ‘시은’의 둠-칫 둠-칫 청춘 스케치. 넌… 요즘 어때?

The storyline shuttles from Incheon to Daegu, where the social-activist priest Jang does his best to help the immigrants with their claims for compensation, severance pay and employment rights. Fine, eye-opening stuff, rather well acted by the non-pro cast – which includes Choi himself.
