음악가 삐에르 폴데스의 첫 애니메이션. 무라카미 하루키의 여러 단편을 각색한 작품이다. 하루키의 소설에서 자주 나타나는 설정처럼 여자들은 다른 차원에 이끌려 사라지고, 남자들은 신비한 고양이들의 인도를 받으며 사람처럼 말하는 거대한 개구리와 같은 가상의 존재를 만난다.

1989년 여름, 라이프치히. 점점 더 많은 사람들이 동독을 떠나 서독으로 도망친다. '프릿지'의 가장 친한 친구 '소피'는 휴가를 보내기 위해 갔던 헝가리에서 돌아오지 않는다. 프릿지는 소피가 자신에게 맡겨두고 간 강아지 '스푸트니크'를 소피와 만나게 해주고 싶지만 둘 사이엔 놓인 베를린 장벽이 있다. 프릿지는 소피를 만나기 위한 모험을 시작한다.

But his plan doesn’t match theirs: he secretly intends to lead them into the desert and rob them of everything they possess before losing them...
