Brittany, Megan, and Heather pull together their friends to re-decorate an old building and make plans to have a wet t-shirt contest. They have problems with parents, permits and pushy collectors, but the show must go on.

50년대말. 미국 팝시장은 떠오르는 별 '팻시 클라인(Patsy Cline: 제시카 랭 분)'의 인기로 흥분되어 있다. 그러나 정작 팻시의 애인 찰리(Charlie Dick: 에드 해리스 분)는 그녀의 성공과 반비례하여 고독과 소외감에 빠지고야 마는데, 팻시의 치명적 교통사고 이후 두사람은 다시 불타는 사랑을 확인한다. 이때 팻시의 히트곡이 전국적인 대히트를 치고 아기가 탄생하여 두사람은 최고의 행복을 만끽하는 순간, 지방공연을 위해 여행중인 팻시는 비행기가 절벽에 부딪치며 어처구니없이 숨을 거두고 만다.
