As befits a full-blooded Jiang Hu (underworld) antic, COTL takes place over the course of a short, frenetic period, feeling to all intents and purposes like one night. It encompasses plenty of gore and cadavers (unless you get the sanitized, inferior mainland version), relying to a large extent on so-called triad codes of honor and organizational culture. At its core resides old boss Dragon Brother, done by Eric Tsang in a repast from his barrage of comical roles and commercial endorsements. The head wants to retire, leading to chaos in gangland as everybody else desires his position and accumulated fortune. Following his fateful announcement, two rival Mafioso's become potential enemies as Dragon Brother and concubine (Suki Kwan) aim to leave Hong Kong in order to start a new life in Europe.

However, he grew careless, leaving a trail for the police. The syndicate killed Mike. Finally, could Stone and SDU rescue the situation?

Seventh film in the series titled The New Option. Lucky Lun was sent to the hospital. He was shot in the spine and was paralyzed from the waist down. Hank told Stone that he returned to Hong Kong to enter a shooting competition. He donated blood to Lucky Lun and helped all those who needed him. There was a big money laundering case in which three prosecution witnesses were in the police's witness protection program. On the first day of legal proceeding, the first witness was shot. Ann and Stone deduced that the killing were done by an expert sniper. The second witness was shot in much the way as the first. All evidence pointed to Hank. When Hank sensed that Stone began to suspect him, and told Stone that he had bought the airplane ticket to the States. When it was time for the third witness to go to court, Stone exchanged clothes with him and waited for the killer.

Fourth film in the 10 film series titled The New Option. Hon tabled a proposal to establish an assault team to take over some of the functions of the SDU. Madam So then withheld an application by Stone to increase the budget of the SDU to upgrade their equipment. Stone of course felt uneasy about this decision. Fatso told Hon that a gang of seven criminals with heavy firearms was planning to rob a factory. To be safe, Ann ordered the SDU to standby for any emergency. The assault team successfully shot or captured five gangsters after their robbery. While they were celebrating their success, the remaining two gangsters returned and opened fire on them. The SDU then stepped in and killed the two gangsters. Madam So had no choice but to shelve the idea of an assault team and approved the new SDU budget proposed by Stone.

Second film in the 10 film series titled The New Option. The slim plot once again has Stone leading a group of rag-tag group of SDU recruits (is the force so hard up that they're allowing their cadets to go around with spiked and dyed hair?), while his squeeze (Suki Kwan) is working on a kidnapping case. They again meet while grocery shopping, but they get robbed and Kenny can't go back to his home without money for the ferry. This starts a relationship between them, and from conscience, Kenny decides to expose the corruption within his company. Vivian Chow plays a secondary role as semi love triangle between Cherie and Kenny.

A police sting takes place in a haunted apartment building. The sting goes bad when a female ghost crashes the party. Lots of chase scenes involving floating heads and headless bodies.. and, oh yes.... toy helicopters. And then it gets weird...A band of Chinese elves save the day (one of them plays a mandolin).

The Pink Squad is comprised of four strong, tough women (Sandra Ng, Ann Bridgewater, Suki Kwan in her film debut, and Elsie Chan) who do their police work efficiently and successfully. As a result, their chauvinistic superiors in the police department are always scheming to try and get them fired.
