Helen Lester is in love with a man she has known just 24 hours, a playboy who spent time in jail for passing bad checks. Though the man has promised to change, most of her strait-laced relatives are up in arms. But Clare Lester, Helen's grandmother, says the girl is free to join the man she loves. On one condition, that she listen to the story of a day in Clare's own life and of a man she tried to change.

Professor Pierre Ginsberg, extraordinary French instructor, is sailing with a wealthy couple as their instructor and guide in France. But when his client tries out his French in the dining room and everything is wrong, he fires Ginsberg. Two gangster-type Americans ask Ginsbeg to order them a meal, and advise him to get a girl for the ship's ball that night. Ginsberg, of course, picks the wife of one of them.
The Lawyer
Professor Pierre Ginsberg is having wife trouble and, on the advice of his lawyer, sets out to wear her down with kindness; she wants constant entertainment his lawyer promises him that a month of dancing and entertainment will eventually kill her or, at least, calm her down some. The exact opposite happens and Professor Ginsberg stands a good chance of dying himself. He manages to sing a song, in the best Willie Howard style, along the way.

‘스펄딩’이라는 인물은 TV 프로그램에서도 등장했던 캐릭터로 잠시의 쉴 틈도 없이 움직이며 동시에 입을 놀림으로써 황당하면서도 통쾌한 웃음을 선사한다. 어느 날 리튼하우스 부인의 대저택에서 화려한 파티가 개최된다. 이 파티에는 탐험가 대장 지오프리티 스펄딩이 참가하며 또한 부유한 예술후원가 로스코 W. 챈들러가 보가드의 유명한 그림 ‘사냥후’를 파티장에 전시한다고 하여 더욱 화제가 되고 있다. 곧 파티가 시작되고 많은 사람들이 모여들면서 파티장은 소란스러워진다. 한편 이 곳에 온 그레이스와 존은 서로 사랑하는 사이이지만 아직 알려지지 않은 화가인 존의 경제능력이 없어 결혼을 하지 못하고 있는 상태이다. 그들은 존을 세상에 알리기 위해 존이 베낀 보가드의 ‘사냥후’를 몰래 진품과 바꿔치기 하기로 한다. 수많은 소동 끝에 그림을 바꿔치기 하지만 사람들은 곧 이를 알아차린다. 오랜 범인 색출 작업 끝에 경찰이 출동하기에 이르고 결국 사람들은 존과 그레이스가 한 짓이라는 것을 알아낸다. 하지만 사람들의 요청에 의해 경찰은 범인들을 너그러이 용서하고 존은 그의 그림 실력을 인정받기에 이른다. 과 함께 막스 형제가 브로드웨이에서 활동할 당시 인기를 끌었던 뮤지컬을 영화화한 작품. 영화는 아프리카 탐험가인 제프린 스펄딩을 주축으로 부유한 리튼하우스 부인의 저택에 초대받은 손님들과 사라진 그림을 둘러싼 좌충우돌을 유쾌하게 그렸다. 파라마운트사에서 제작한 막스 형제의 두 번째 작품이자 뉴욕 퀸즈의 파라마운트 아스토리아 스튜디오에서 촬영한 마지막 작품이기도 한다. 아스토리아 스튜디오의 일부는 현재 미국영상박물관(The American Museum of the Moving Image)로 사용되고 있다. A young woman, who wants to be in the Follies, is making ends meet by working at a department store's sheet music department, where she sings the latest hits. She is accompanied on piano by her childhood boyfriend, who is in love with her, despite her single-minded interest in her career. When a vaudeville performer asks her to join him as his new partner, she sees it as an opportunity to make her dream come true. Upon arriving in New York City, our heroine finds out that her new partner is only interested in sleeping with her and makes this a condition of making her a star. Soon, however, she is discovered by a representative of Ziegfeld.
Michael O'More, an American who lives in Ireland with his uncle, a horsetrainer for the Earl of Balkerry, loves Lady Mary Cardigan, granddaughter of the Earl. He finds a rival in Capt. Brian Fitzroy, a rake who intends to buy the impoverished earl's castle and marry Lady Mary. After nearly killing Fitzroy in a brawl over Lady Mary, Michael flees to the United States. There he becomes financially secure when department store magnate Abe Feinberg offers him a job. Feinberg commissions Michael to establish a linen mill on the earl's estate. He and Mary, who is in the United States evading Fitzroy, return to Ireland and marry.
Mr. Bumble
Young Irish lad Tommy O'Day lives in a poor section of New York's Lower East Side, and is blessed with a beautiful singing voice. After an argument with his father, who accuses him of stealing the family's life savings, Tommy leaves home and gets a job singing in a cabaret. He is successful and soon lands the lead in a Broadway revue. On opening night, just as he is about to go on stage, he receives word that his mother, who he has not seen since he left home, is dying and wants to see him.
