Set in Milan in the summer of 1989 against the backdrop of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the film follows four frustrated individuals whose lives intertwine because of the loss of a planner.
A criminal saves a cop's daughter from drowning, then forces the cop to shelter him from the police after a bank robbery.

Nino is a pianist, he runs into Valentina in the underground and falls for her. Valentina is rich but she tells nothing to Nino who is proud. Andrea was the boy of Valentina before Nino and wants to marry her for her money. Nino leaves Valentina when he finds out that she is rich while Andrea, turned down again, kidnaps Valentina.

요정 모모는 마을 사람들에게 없어서는 안되는 존재. 그러나 마을 사람들은 회색 복장을 한 시간 도둑들의 꾐에 빠져 시간을 아끼려 버둥대며, 피곤하고 가증스러운 모습으로 바뀌게 된다. 이에 모모는 시간의 성서를 가지고 도둑과 필사적으로 싸우게 된다. 한손에는 한 떨기 시간의 꽃을 들고, 다른 한 손으로는 신비의 거북이 카시오데이아를 가슴에 안은 모모는 이웃들의 도둑맞은 시간을 되찾으려 한다.
