Back in her apartment, Matty takes a hot bath to recover from the afternoon’s emotionswhen the phone rings. It’s Johnny, apologizing for his behaviour on the parking lot. Matty tells him to stay out of her life. A dramatic comedy begins about a woman whose soul is full of dents and bruises.

팔레스타인 테러리스트를 추적하는 임무를 수행하고 있는 첩보 요원 토니(크리스토퍼 램버트 분). 그는 기관으로부터 악명 높은 테러리스트 아마르를 사살하라는 명령을 받는다. 토니는 임무의 수행을 위해 동료와 함께 아마르의 미행에 들어간다. 그러나 그는 마지막 방아쇠를 당기려고 하던 순간, 미행하던 남자가 아마르가 아니라는 사실을 알아채게 된다. 토니는 동료의 총구를 막으려 하지만, 이미 동료는 방아쇠를 당겼고, 미행하던 남자는 즉사한 상태. 그렇게 토니가 당황하고 있는 순간, 느닷없이 나타난 자동차 한대는 기관총을 난사하며 토니와 동료를 위협한다. 토니는 순식간에 일어난 위급의 상황에서 간신히 벗어나지만 동료는 과다 출혈로 숨을 거둔다. 기관으로 돌아와 이 모두가 아마르가 만든 함정이라고 주장하지만 그의 주장은 기관에서 먹혀들지 않는다. 결국 토니는 조사과정 중 좌천당하기에 이르고 되고, 그가 이끌던 팀도 뿔뿔이 흩어지게 된다. 시간이 흐른 어느날 토니는 과거 팀 동료들이 하나씩 죽어가고 있음을 알게 되고, 아마르의 위협을 직감하게 된다.

인구증가와 함께 심한 자원고갈을 겪던 인류는 인구 억제 차원에서 출산을 제한한다. 그러나 존과 그의 아내는 그들의 두 번째 아이를 갖게 되고 지구 인구증가를 담당하는 맨텔사를 피해 도피하게 되는데 그만 존은 맨텔사에 의해 지하 감옥에 갇히게 된다. 그리고 체내 이식 프로그램에 의한 철저한 감시 속에 위험한 탈출을 시도한다. 무사히 탈출에 성공한 존은 아내와 함께 산속 오두막에 피신해 은둔생활을 하고 있던 중 불연 맨텔사 직원의 침입을 받게 된다. 그동안 존의 일거수 일투족을 감시하고 있던 맨텔사에 의해 존은 먼 우주 감옥으로 보내지게 되고, 자신을 우주감옥으로 다시 불러들인 사람이 10년전 지하감옥의 간수장이었던 텔러라는 사실을 알게 된다. 다시금 텔러에 의해 우주감옥에 들어오게 된 죤은 더욱 삼엄해진 컴퓨터 보안 시스템과 행동 교정 프로그램에 위해서 모든 행동을 규제받으며 더욱 잔인해진 인조인간들의 감시와 횡포속에 자유를 위한 탈출을 시도한다. 그러나 계획은 곧 탄로나고 탈출은 수포로 돌아간다. 그 과정에서 존은 지구 맨텔사를 폭팔하려는 텔러의 야심찬 계획을 알게 된다.

After the death of his wife, wealthy businessman Philip Emmenthal and his son Storey open their own private harem in their family residence in Geneva (they get the idea while watching Federico Fellini's 8½ and after Storey is "given" a woman, Simato (Inoh), to waive her pachinko debts). They sign one-year contracts with eight (and a half) women to this effect. The women each have a gimmick (one is a nun, another a kabuki performer, etc.). Philip soon becomes dominated by his favourite of the concubines, Palmira, who has no interest in Storey as a lover, despite what their contract might stipulate. Philip dies, the concubines' contracts expire, and Storey is left alone with Giulietta (the titular "½", played by Fujiwara) and of course the money and the houses.
