북유럽의 밝은 여름, 어른들이 보지 않을 때 몇몇 아이가 어둡고 미스터리한 힘을 드러낸다. 영화는 여름 방학 동안 친구가 된 네 아이를 따라간다. 어른의 시야에서 벗어나면 아이들은 자신의 숨겨진 힘을 찾는다. 인근의 숲과 놀이터에서 새로운 능력을 탐구하는 가운데, 이들의 천진난만한 놀이는 어두운 쪽으로 바뀌어 이상한 일들이 벌어지기 시작한다.
