His Majesty's Sergeant is a film produced by the late Ghanaian director Ato Yanney. A story of racial conflict set in the war-torn Burmese forest during 1944 when three soldiers, an African, an Indian and a Briton, end up hiding together. Three disparate bands, Jafa (Tommy Ebow Ansah), Singh (Surinder Singh Ghuman) and Jake (Tony Trent) are embroiled in their own differences of attitude, prejudice, rank and race equality. The film is a fascinating portrayal about the fight for Independence and the Commonwealth nations which helped Britain to win the war.
A Ghanaian surgeon in London, returns to his homeland to seek out his mother. She is living with another man after the death of her husband. 전셋집을 운영하면서 사이비 진료 행위를 하던 크리스티(John Reginald Christie: 리차드 어텐보로 분)는 아내가 집을 비운 틈을 타 천식으로 고생하는 뮤리엘(Muriel Eady: 필립스 맥마혼 분)을 집으로 불러 들인다. 자신이 고안한 최면 개스를 흡입시켜 기절시키고는 아무런 저항도 못하는 여자를 폭행하는 희열감에 들뜨는 크리스티, 끝내 뮤리엘은 목이 졸린 채 살해되고 만다. 5년후, 비어있는 3층에 티모시(Timothy John Evans: 존 허트 분) 일가가 세들어 온다. 일자무식이지만 나름대로 똑똑한 체 하는 티모시와 그의 아름다운 부인 베릴(Beryl Evans: 쥬디 기슨 분)이 싸우는 장면을 목격한 크리스티는 여인의 속살을 보고 또다시 잠들어 있던 욕망이 꿈틀거리는 것을 느끼는데. 크리스티는 그들이 원치 않던 임신을 하게 된 사실을 알고는 중절을 해주겠노라며 교묘히 접근, 같은 수법으로 베릴을 살해한다. 티모시가 아내를 살해했다는 누명을 쓰고 교수형을 당하자 어렴풋이 남편의 정체를 눈치채게 된 자신의 아내마저 죽이는 크리스티의 변태적인 살인행각은 그후로도 계속되어 마침내 그가 체포되고서야 엄청난 연쇄 살인 사건의 전모가 드러나게 된다.
런던 출신의 록 밴드 롤링 스톤즈가 녹음을 하기 위해 스튜디오에 모여 있다. 폐차장을 어슬렁거리는 과격한 흑인 극좌파들은 혁명을 꿈꾸며 총을 나눠 가진다. 그리고 하얀 옷을 입은 민주주의의 화신 이브 데모크러시는 어떤 질문에도 ‘예’ 또는 ‘아니오’로만 대답한다.
