타이완의 한 시골 마을에서 닭 농장을 하는 휘준은 곧 결혼을 앞둔 남동생, 십대 조카 신루와 함께 살고 있다. 미혼의 손위 누이는 동생의 결혼 피로연에 앉을 수 없다는 친척들의 어깃장에 휘준은 어쩐지 죄책감을 느낀다. 신루가 깔아준 데이팅 앱에서 만난 프랑스인 마르탱과 ‘샐리’라는 가명으로 연애를 시작한 휘준은 마르탱이 갑자기 사라지자 그를 찾아 파리로 떠난다. 휘준이 처음 혼자 경험하는 작은 마을 밖의 세상은 낯설지만 찬란하다. 휘준을 걱정거리로 인식하는 듯한 가족을 떠나, 휘준은 좌충우돌하며 자신의 세계를 증명하고자 한다.
