일본의 가와사키시, 이곳에는 1~3 세대의 재일 동포 주인공들, 그리고 그들과 일상의 삶을 함께하는 일본인, 미국인이 공생 사회를 추구하고 소망한다. 2000년 남북정상회담은 분단된 재일 동포 사회에도 화해와 희망을 안겨 주었다. 한편, 2016년 일본과 한반도의 긴장 관계가 깊어지는 가운데 동포들의 거주지인 사쿠라모토에 혐오 시위대 수백 명이 다가오자, 동포들과 일본 시민들이 함께 맞선다.
