작은 마을인 멈포드는 겉으로보기에는 평온하지만 그 곳에도 이런저런 문제를 가진 사람들이 많이 있다. 젊은 심리학자 멈포드 박사(Mumford: 로렌 딘 분)는 멈포드 마을로 이사온 지 넉 달밖에 되지 않았지만 인근의 어느 심리학자보다도 많은 환자를 맡고 있다. 멈포드의 과거는 마을에서 베일에 싸여 있었다. 실제로 그는 심리학자도 아니었으며 심리 치료에 관한 정규 교육을 받은 적도 없다. 여러 직업을 전전하며 동료의 아내와 불륜 관계까지 가졌던 그는 과거와 경력을 위조한 후 멈포드 마을에서 심리학자 행세를 하고 있는 것이다. 이러한 사실을 알리가 없는 마을 사람들은 색다른 방법으로 치료를 하는 멈포드에게 호감을 가지고 그의 명성은 높아만 간다. 하지만 멈포드는 심리학자로서 금기 사항을 어긴다. 바로 멈포드에게 상담을 받고 있던 소피(Sofie Crisp: 홉 데이비스 분)에게 특별한 감정을 가지게 된 것이다. 그러던 어느 날, TV에서 멈포드의 과거를 추적한 방송을 내보내면서 지금껏 숨겨왔던 그의 정체가 탄로나 버린다. 하지만 소피와 마을 사람들은 멈포드를 위해 그의 사면을 위한 청원서까지 제출해준다. 지금까지 자신이 도와주었던 사람들의 도움을 받아서 멈포드는 진정 새로운 삶을 시작할 기회를 얻은 것이다.

글도 읽을 줄 모르고 오로지 TV에서 나오는 음악에 맞춰 춤을 추는게 전부인 비비스(Beavis: 마이크 저지 목소리 분)와 버트헤드(Butt-head: 마이크 저지 목소리 분)가 TV를 도둑 맞는다. TV를 찾으러 집뿐만 아니라 온동네를 돌아다니며 소동을 일으키며 이잡듯이 뒤지지만 TV는 온데간데 없다. 그러던 중 오직 TV를 보기 위해 모텔에 들른 이 두 친구는 거기서 머디(Muddy Grimes: 브루스 윌리스 목소리 분)라는 남자를 만난다. 그는 전처라면서 달라스(Dallas Grimes: 데미 무어 목소리 분)의 사진을 보여주며 라스베가스에 있는 그녀를 혼내주면 만불을 주겠다고 제안한다. While Perry and Della try to solve the main mystery, Paul tries to find out who is trying to scare Susan away from the hotel. Could it really be a ghost or a more earthy visitor?

The story of jet pilots flying over Korea by day, from their Itazuke Air Base in Japan, and of their wives, on station with them, who have dinner ready when they return. Jane Carter (Coleen Gray), a reporter for a large newspaper syndicate arrives... she's also the estranged wife of the assistant squadron commander, Colonel Gil Manton (Robert Stack.)
