꽃을 염색하는 앙투안은 크리스틴과 결혼하여 행복한 나날을 보낸다. 크리스틴의 출산이 가까워오자 앙투안은 더 나은 직업을 구하고자 한다. 그러던 중 앙투안은 일본여성 교코를 만나고, 둘은 급격히 사랑에 빠진다. 교코의 존재를 안 크리스틴은 앙투안을 떠난다.
