Patagonia, Argentina, 1880s. During the Conquest of the Desert, Marguerite, the French wife of Colonel Garay, in charge of protecting a new railway, discovers that a French woman is being held captive by the local natives.

Mara Ordaz, a former film star who lives in an isolated mansion with her husband, her doctor and her money manager, decides to sell the house and return to Buenos Aires; but the three men do not agree with her decision.

The son of a politician who tries to follow the same path as his father, gives up when he discovers his fraudulent dealings.
