어부 호세는 밤새 낚시를 마치고 정글 깊숙이 자리한 집으로 돌아온다. 그를 맞은 것은 넋이 나간 딸과, 사라진 두 아들. 용병 부대가 참혹하게 아들을 살해하고 강물에 시체를 버린 것이다. 늙은 아비는 두 아들의 영혼이 구천을 떠돌지 않도록, 제대로 장례를 치러주고자 강물을 거슬러 오르는 외로운 여행을 떠난다. 예기치 못한 여정에서 그는 무수한 사람들을 만나게 된다. 일부는 그의 불행을 동정하지만, 대부분은 보복이 있을까 두려워 그에게 등을 돌리고, 몇몇은 어리석다며 오히려 비웃기까지 한다.

Carlos lives in a boarding school in the centre of Bogotá and longs to spend Christmas with his family. The circumstances around him force him to assume the male stereotype, in open contradiction to his true being. In private, Carlos acknowledges his sensitivity, his fragility and moves towards other forms of masculinity. At his 16 years of age, Carlos explores his sexual identity, discovers his fears, his desires, and all the things that real men never show.

Evo Morales Ayma was supported by 36 native groups, the social movements, academic and intellectual circles and a massive popular backing which allowed him to obtain 53,7% of the votes. The coca growers from the Tropic of Cochabamba, better known as Chapare, played a leading role in this process.
