배리 토마스(Barry Thomas: 조나단 실버맨 분)는 차세대 에너지로 추앙받는 수퍼 엑셀레이터를 연구하고 있는 과학자다. 수퍼 엑셀레이터에 의해 작동하는 타임바운스는 전날의 출발 시점으로 시간을 거꾸로 되돌려놓아 엑셀레이터가 발사될 때까지 전날과 똑같은 하루를 반복 재현시킨다. 배리는 같은 연구소내의 리사 플레드릭(Lisa Fredericks: 헬렌 슬레이터 분)이라는 여자 박사를 사랑하지만 어느날 리사는 괴한에 의해 피살된다. 그러나 그날밤 12시 1분에 엑셀레이터가 발사되고 배리는 똑같은 하루가 반복됨을 알게 되면서 리사의 생명을 구하게 되고 같은 날이 계속 반복됨에 따라 배리는 타임바운스 배후의 악당들을 추적하면서 사라의 화술을 연마해나간다. 배리는 리사의 사랑과 신임을 얻게되며, 결국 두사람은 인류 역사상 가장 가공할 기계의 가동을 정지시키고 사랑을 확인한다.
