다섯 자매의 이야기다. 어린 시절 물놀이를 간 자매들은 자신들의 삶을 뒤흔드는 비극적인 사건과 마주하는데, 영화의 시간은 그로부터 몇 십년 뒤 이들이 중년이 되는 시기로 갑작스레 이동한다. 그날 이후 응어리진 마음과 오해로 인해 서로를 오랫동안 원망하던 이들은 자매들이 모두 노년이 된 어느 날, 누군가의 부고 소식을 듣고 한 자리에 모인다.
