Before finally entering the afterlife, the dead spend a period in a limbo from which they depart only when, among the living, there is no one who remembers them. Under the care of the salacious Domenico the visitors of a small cemetery recount how they arrived at eternal peace.

The young Luca grew up with his uncle Augusto, owner of a shoe store. The latter, determined to "start" the clumsy nephew sexually, takes him to a brothel in Florence and throws him into the arms of the stupendous prostitute Nerina, of whom Luca falls hopelessly in love.

In this comedy, a guru’s groupie plans to seduce him so she can number him among her many conquests.

어두운 과거를 갖고 있던 청년 아드리아노(비토리오 가스맨 분)는 힘든 생활을 청산하고 싶은 마음에 부유한 집안의 딸인 마르첼라(아네트 바딤)와 결혼하기로 한다. 결혼 후, 과거 모호한 관계에 있던 토리노의 귀족 친구가 그에게 자신의 재산을 상속한다는 연락을 받는다. 마르첼라는 이를 이상하게 여기고, 아드리아노를 떠나고, 아드리아노는 미모사라는 매춘부와 관계를 갖는다. 미모사는 아드리아노가 친구의 유산 상속 제의를 거절하고 아내인 마르첼라와 재결합하여, 그 동안의 방탕한 생활을 청산하도록 도와준다.
