Kind-hearted Fatso Ng earnestly entreats Buddha to save his midget brother Tiger from an early death. In a passionate outburst, he pledges half his lifespan in return for sparing Tiger. It seems to work ....... too well. Fatso had been told last year by reliable fortune teller Big Mouth Kwan that he would have a long life, but his fortune has now changed. Meanwhile, Tiger is making the most of his renewed lease of life, working hard to get into the panties of three busty nurses. 화산파 제자인 원승지는 무공을 수련하던 도중 무림의 절세 고수였던 금사낭군의 유골과 그의 유서를 발견한다. 유서엔 기연을 얻게 될 자에게 자신의 무공은 물론, 숨겨진 황실의 보물을 선물로 주겠다는 내용과 함께 절강성에 사는 한 여인에게 황금 10만냥을 전하라는 내용이 기록돼 있었다. 에 이은 신필 김용의 두 번째 장편소설 을 영화화한 작품. 초기에 발표한 작품이기 때문에 후기에 나온 다른 김용의 작품과 비교해 다소 평면적이긴 하지만, 영화는 장철 특유의 넘치는 남성미를 강조, 액션의 묘미에 치중한다. 아버지의 복수를 하는 원승지와 불운한 출생의 과거를 지닌 온청청과의 애정관계를 그리고 있지만, 방대한 원작소설의 일부를 영화로 옮겼기 때문에 드라마보다는 대결의 재미가 있다.
김용의 소설을 원작으로 한 [벽혈검]은 화산파 제자와 무림 고수들의 대결이 흥미롭게 그려진 작품으로, [오독]으로 유명한 곽추와 강생, 녹봉 등이 주연을 맡았다.
