16세기의 영국 튜더 왕조의 국왕인 헨리 8세(King Henry VIII: 리차드 버튼 분)는 자신의 왕후인 앤 볼린(Anne Boleyn: 제네비에브 부졸드 분)을 처형하기 위해 재상 크롬웰(Thomas Cromwell: 존 콜리코스 분)이 가지고 온 문서에 서명을 하려고 한다. 영화는 서명을 하려는 헨리 8세가 자신이 앤과 결혼하기 위해 해왔던 일들을 회상하는데서 시작된다. 왕의 무도회. 프랑스에서 이제 막 돌아온 볼린가의 막내딸인 앤도 약혼자인 퍼쉬(Harry Percy: 테렌스 윌톤 분)와 무도회에 참석했다. 울지 추기경(Cardinal Wolsey: 안소니 쿼일 분)은 이 젊은 남녀의 결혼을 허락해 줄 것을 왕에게 간청하지만 아름다운 앤에게 이미 마음을 빼앗겨 버린 왕은 허락은 커녕 앤과 퍼쉬를 떨어뜨려 놓고 자신이 앤을 차지하려고 한다. 하지만 앤은 이미 왕에게 농락당해 아이를 가지고 있던 언니(Mary Boleyn: 발레리 거론 분)의 모습을 보곤 절대 왕의 여자가 되지 않겠다고 가족들에게까지 말하고 왕에게도 냉랭한 태도를 갖는다. 앤의 이런 싸늘한 태도에 왕은 더욱 더 매력을 느끼고 앤의 집에 머물며 그녀의 환심을 사려고 노력한다. 결국 앤의 안위를 걱정한 퍼쉬는 다른 아가씨와 결혼을 하고 앤은 괴로워한다. 앤의 계속되는 냉담한 반응에 왕은 캐서린 왕비의 시종으로 앤을 궁궐로 불러들이고 궁으로 옮긴 앤은 점점 권력과 사치의 맛을 배우게 된다. 하지만 왕의 애타는 사랑은 여전히 앤을 떠나지 않는다. 권력의 맛을 느끼게 된 앤은 왕에게 자신과 결혼하여 아들을 낳아주는 대신 자신이 영국의 왕비이여야 하며 자신의 아들이 왕위를 계승하게 해주어야 한다고 이야기한다.

Doctor in Clover is another 'Doctor' movie, but this time Leslie Phillips is the main doctor in the story, looking for love and romance from the hospital nurses, much to the annoyance of the main Administrator (James Robertson Justice) who wants his doctors to be 100% focussed on the job. Numerous antics follow, with Phillips getting Justice fixed up with the new prim-and-proper Matron (Joan Sims) and his attempted failures to lure the hospital's beauty, the physiotherapist.

And now Doctor Dysert is treating his own secretary, Kitty, who he wants to make her his next wife, as she has inexplicably fallen ill.

영국의 저명한 극작가 테렌스 래티건의 희곡 'The Sleeping Prince'를 마릴린 몬로가 직접 각색한 것이다. 영국에서 촬영되었으며, 올리비에와 몬로의 프로덕션이 합작으로 제작했다. 올리비에 - 몬로 사이의 연기 조화가 예상 외로 좋았고, 조연진들이 아주 좋은 호흡을 맞추어주었다. 오랜 무대 역사를 가진 영국의 탄탄한 연기진들의 실력을 볼 수가 있다. 1911년 영국왕 죠지 5세의 대관식에 참석하기 위해서 온 어느 나라의 왕자와 우연히 대사관에 들른 미국인 쇼걸 아가씨와의 사이에서 벌어지는 해프닝과 은근한 로맨스가 펼쳐진다. 상류 사회의 위선을 풍자하고 인간성의 진실은 신분과는 관계가 없다는 메시지를 담고 있어서 그런대로 의미가 있는 작품이기는 하나, 지나치게 이야기를 끄는 듯한 느낌이 주는 영화이다. 비평가들의 평가는 그런대로 좋았으나 흥행에서는 실패했다.

Edward "Teddy" Bare is a ruthless schemer who thinks he's hit the big time when he kills his older wife, believing he will inherit a fortune. 젊은 변호사 알랜 맥킴(Alan McKim: 존 그레그슨 분)은 골동품 수집가이다. 특히 그는 1904년 드라크사가 제작한 '제네비에브'를 가장 아낀다. 하지만 알랜의 아내(Wendy McKim: 다이나 셔리단 분)는 자동차를 사랑하는 남편의 집념을 이해하지 못한다. 매해 런던에서는 브라이튼에 이르는 자동차 경주가 벌어진다. 알랜은 이 자동차 경주에 참가할 준비를 하고 그의 오래된 친구 암브로소 클래버하우스(Ambrose Claverhouse: 케네스 모어 분)도 1904년형 골동품차를 몰고 온다. 클래버하우스는 알랜의 '제네비에브'에 대한 악성 루머를 퍼뜨리는가 하면 알랜과 부인 사이를 이간질한다. 전국 각지에서 수많은 선수들이 참가한 가운데 드디어 자동차 경주가 시작되고 클래버하우스는 여자 친구 로잘린드 피터스(Rosalind Peters: 케이 켄달 분)와 함께 시합에 참가한다. 그러나 알랜의 가는 길마다 재앙이 따르고 결국엔 브라이튼에 제 시간에 도착하지 못해 시합에서 떨어지고 만다. 그날 밤 암브로소와 알랜은 나이트클럽에서 우연히 만나게 되는데, 암브로소는 알랜의 부인과 춤을 추면서 야릇한 감정을 느낀다. 호텔로 돌아온 알랜은 암브로소에게 호의를 보인 부인을 의심하면서 질투심에 휩싸인다. 차고에서 만난 알랜과 알브로소는 말다툼을 하게 되고 화가 난 암브로소는 알랜에게 제네비에브에 대한 악담을 늘어놓는다. 화가 난 알랜은 암브로소에게 런던으로 되돌아가는 경주를 하자고 제안한다. 런던의 웨스트미니스터 다리에 먼저 도착하는 사람이 100파운드를 차지한다는 내기였다. 알랜과 암브로소는 내기에서 이기기 위해 온갖 수단을 다 동원한다. 아슬아슬한 경주가 계속되고 결국엔 알랜이 이끄는 제네비에브가 승리한다. 알랜은 아내에 대한 의심이 부질없는 것이었다는 것을 깨닫고 두 사람은 서로에 대한 사랑을 확인한다.
