유수프와 그의 절친 메모는 동부 아나톨리아의 산맥에 고립되어 있는 쿠르드족 남자 기숙 학교의 학생이다. 메모가 알 수 없는 이유로 병에 걸리자, 유수프는 메모를 돕기 위해 학교의 억압적인 교사들이 내세우는 관료주의적인 장애물에 저항해야 한다.
