첫 장면은 1959년 크리스마스날 밤이다. 여섯명의 20대 청년이 서로 얽힌 친구관계와 끝나가는 50년대에 대한 혼란을 겪고 있는데, 그 모든것이 12월 31일로 예정된 한 친구의 결혼준비를 통해 암시적으로 드러난다. 제목의 식당은 주인공들이 집을 떠나 있는 동안 집이자 일종의 대리 모태의 역할을 한다. 그들은 식당 안 칸막이 좌석에 파묻혀 깨끗한 테이블에서 식사를 하며 바깥세상의 요구를 유보하기 위해 끊임없이 이야기를 늘어놓고 서로 함께 있다는 사실에서 기쁨을 만끽한다.

Martians fear their children have become lazy and joyless due to their newfound obsession with Earth TV shows. After ancient Martian leader Chochem suggests that the children of Mars need more fun—including their own Santa Claus—supreme leader Lord Kimar assembles an expedition to Earth. Once there, they kidnap two children who lead them to the North Pole, then capture the real Santa Claus, taking all three back to Mars in an attempt to bring the Martian children happiness.

Silent film drama

It is a variation on the original legend of Alraune in which a Mad Scientist creates a beautiful but demonic child from the forced union between a woman and a Mandrake root. Not to be confused with the 1918 German version of Alraune.
