아프리카 마녀라는 독특한 소재를 인간의 자유와 연결하여 풀어낸 룬가노 니오니의 감성 장편 데뷔작. 아홉 살 슐라는 마법을 부렸다는 죄목으로 고발된 후 마녀 공동체에 수용된다. 슐라는 다른 마녀들과 다름없이 끊으면 염소로 변하는 저주가 내려진 끈에 매인 채 살아간다.
