밤 늦도록 호러 영화를 즐겨보는 찰리 브루스터는 어느 날 앞집의 창문에서 한 여인의 목을 빨아대는 흡혈귀 제리 댄드리지를 발견한다. 그 다음날 이웃집에서 어둠을 깨는 비명이 들려 왔다. 그러나 경찰에 신고도 하지만 여자 친구 에이미까지도 흡혈귀라고 말하는 찰리를 도리어 미친 사람 취급한다. 집으로 돌아온 찰리는 옆집 사나이가 갑자기 드라큐라로 변해 그의 목을 찌르려고 하자 연필로 그의 손바닥을 찔러 위기를 모면한다. 이에 찰리는 최고의 시청율을 자랑하는 ‘후라이트 나이트 극장’ 호스트인 피터 빈센트에게 도움을 요청한다. 자기의 정체가 탄로난 단도로치는 처절하게 복수를 준비한다.
