A young writer meets an enigmatic girl who becomes his obsession. Over the course of a strip poker game at a wealthy household, an extreme game of seduction takes place that comes dangerously close to death. Lattuada switches the plot's timeline from the 60s to the 80s, and the setting from Rome to Paris.
Bernard is in the middle of a divorce. In the courthouse where he is awaiting the separation settlement, he runs across a childhood friend, Nicolas, who runs a dating service and is passing out flyers to soon-to-be divorcés. Bernard goes with his friend to his club, and gets roped into helping him find his soulmate.

Then, one of Jacques' former girlfriends drops a baby before their door, making Pierre and Michel believing it is the package they are waiting for. Their lives are then completely changed.
