21세기 중반, 미국 정부는 공간이동 연구를 시작하다 시간이동 가능성도 알아낸다. 연구의 위험성을 간파하고 모든 연구를 중단하고 폐쇄하지만, 몇 명에 의해 이 기술은 악용되기 시작하고, 천재적인 기억력을 지닌 레즈는 그들에 의해 실험에 투입되어 미래로 가서 많은 정보를 그들에게 제공하는데 그 과정에서 미래에 도시가 폭발하게 되는 것을 알게된다. 레즈는 도시에 살고 있는 딸을 위해 미래를 바꾸려고 하지만 폭발은 자신의 시공간 이동이 초래한 부작용임을 나중에 알게된다. 위험을 무릎쓰며 현재, 과거, 미래를 오가며 레즈는 딸과 도시를 구하기 위한 방법을 찾고자 한다.
