마침내 총사가 된 달타냥(마이클 요크 분)은 삼총사인 아토스(올리버 리드 분)와 아라미스(리처드 챔벌레인, 분), 프로토스(프랭크 핀리 분)와 함께 사총사가 되어 국왕인 루이 13세의 명령으로 반란군들에게 사로잡힌 리슐리외(찰턴 헤스턴 분)의 심복 로쉬포르 백작을 구출한다. 밀라디(페이 더너웨이 분)는 콘스탄스를 납치한 뒤 달타냥을 유혹하는데... 밀라디는 원래 아토스가 예전에 사랑하던 여인이었으나, 사냥을 하던 날 우연히 밀라디의 왼쪽 어깨에 찍힌 죄인의 낙인인 백합 문신을 보고 밀라디를 죽였다고 믿고, 아토스는 줄곧 밀라디가 죽은 줄로만 알고 있었다. 달타냥을 유혹하려다 달타냥에게 백합 문신을 들킨 밀라디는 그때부터 달타냥을 죽이려 한다. 한편 리슐리외 추기경은 달타냥에게 자신의 근위대가 되어달라는 부탁을 하지만 달타냥은 추기경의 청을 거절하고, 그때부터 여러 번 살해될 위험에 처한다. 삼총사는 납치된 콘스탄스를 구출해서 안전한 수녀원으로 데려가고, 리슐리외 추기경은 밀라디에게 버킹엄 공작을 만나 반란군들을 돕기 위해 함대를 보내지 말라고 경고하고, 공작이 말을 듣지 않으면 살해하라고 지시한다. 추기경의 명령을 받은 밀라디는 대신 콘스탄스와 달타냥을 제거해달라고 부탁한 뒤 추기경의 서명이 담긴 편지를 받는다. 그러나 밀라디와 리슐리외 추기경의 대화를 엿들은 아토스는 밀라디에게 가서 추기경의 편지를 빼앗고 달타냥을 건드리지 말라고 경고한다. 영국으로 건너간 밀라디는 버킹엄 공작이 추기경의 경고를 무시하자, 공작을 암살하려다가 잡혀서 감옥에 갇히지만, 버킹엄 공작의 부하인 펠튼을 유혹해서 버킹엄 공작을 살해하게 만들고 펠튼의 도움으로 프랑스로 무사히 빠져 나와 달타냥과 콘스탄스를 죽일 계획을 세우는데....

At Heathrow Airport, a man is razored to death in a toilet cubicle. A young woman, Peggy Foster, is concerned about the disappearance of Michael, her photographer boyfriend, who has been in Vietnam for months. 강도들의 습격을 받고 살아남았지만 기억상실증에 걸린 총잡이 '루블 눈'은 그에게는 호의적인 무법자 '라임스'를 만난다. '라임스'의 도움을 받은 '눈'은 본인의 정체를 밝혀 나간다. 결국 '눈'은 자신의 아내와 아이가 강도들에 의해 살해당했다는 사실과 범인의 존재를 알게 되면서 복수에 나선다.
