1962년 인도 북부 루크나우. 고위 경찰 간부의 가족이 사는 상류층 집안에서 샨카는 없어서는 안 될 능력 있는 집사이다. 카톨릭계 초등학교에 다니는 딸 안자나와 아들 바이야에게 샨카는 보모이자 요리사이고, 재미있는 이야기를 들려주는 최고의 친구이다. 어느 날, 샨카에게 딸이 아프다는 소식이 전해지고 샨카는 주인 부부에게 휴가를 요청한다. (제26회 부산국제영화제)

A ten year old boy selling tea in Bombay at the Gateway Of India, An 18 year old girl with her tea shop in a mid level town, A 19 year old Kashmiri lad in a Barrista and An 80 year old man's tea shop in a busy Kerala bus stand.
