For his project under the lauded First Feature Film Initiative programme, director Ka Sing- fung tells the heartrending journey of a woman whose life is forever changed by the children she takes in as a temporary foster carer. In a career-best performance, Sammi Cheng stars as Mei, a woman trying to get over the death of her young son through the children she welcomes into her home. Each ward offers Mei a different challenge and a newfound appreciation for the difficulties of motherhood, but when her dedication to the job causes her marriage to turn sour, Mei is forced to make a choice.
가족이 함께 식사하는 전통이 있는 동짓날 저녁, 천과 링 부부, 딸 치치와 아들 양, 링의 오빠 밍이 링의 어머니 댁에 모였다. ‘영끌’로 마련한 새집의 수리와 입 주를 앞두고 실직한 남편의 무능력에 지친 링은 천에게 이혼을 요구하고, 둘을 중재하던 양은 천에게 크게 실망하고 분노한다. 게다가 사업에 실패한 밍도 노모와 다툼을 일으켜, 이날 이후 다시는 가족이 한 테이블에 둘러앉지 못한다. 8년 후, 해외에 살던 밍의 딸 조이가 홍콩에 도착하면서 천과 링 가족은 다시 시골집에서의 동지만찬을 계획한다. 아픔과 회한을 안고 각자 견뎌온 세월이 가족을 다시 결합하게 할 수 있을까.
어린아이에게 보호자는 세계의 전부이다. 그러나 사실 이 보호자라는 성(城)은 너무도 연약하다. 초등학교 5학년 생인 퀑은 우주와 관련된 모든 것을 사랑한다. 퀑은 학교 생활도 잘 하고 싶고 집에서도 잘 지내고 싶지만 부모님은 매일 싸우기만 한다. 할머니의 죽음 이후 상실감과 불면증으로 괴로워하던 퀑은 어느 날 갑자기 사라져버리고 만다.
One sunny day during the summer holidays, two brothers have an extraordinary mission to fulfil. The mature elder brother finishes all the housework methodically while taking care of his little brother. His final task is to hang the blanket in the sun, and little brother insists on tagging along. They need to find an ideal location which is not easy as every spot is occupied on such a sunny day. Together they journey on and meet an assortment of characters and challenges.
