A behind the scenes look at the making of the movie M*A*S*H. The documentary reveals all of the chaos, politics, and conflict that was going on behind the scenes during production of the movie through new interviews done with director Robert Altman as well as Richard Zanuck, who was head of production for 20th Century Fox at the time, and others.

미국의 거대한 광산회사 겸 극지개발회사의 북극기지 연구소에서 일하는 의학, 고고인류학, 생물학, 생화학 연구진들은 어느날 빙하속에서 약 2만년전 인간으로 추정되는 원시인의 냉동된 시신을 발견한다. 연구기지로 그 얼음덩이를 가져다 녹인 연구진들은 인공혈액을 주입시키고 갖가지 약품과 의학적인 방법을 사용해서 그를 살려내는데 성공한다. 젊은 고고인류학자인 세피드 박사는 연구팀들이 그를 생체 해부, 미국 각지의 의과대학에 몸의 각부분을 보내서 연구시키기 전에 완전한 인간으로써 연구할 기간을 달라고 애원, 2주일의 기간을 얻어 낸다. 찰리란 이름을 붙인 이 원시인은 원시환경에서 혼자 쓸쓸히 옛 삶의 방식을 재현해 보다가 세피드와 친구가 되고, 알 수 없는 음향과 언어로 대화를 하려한다. 본국에서 달려온 언어학자가 사라진 언어가 오랜 에스키모의 조상의 말과 비슷한 음성학적 구조를 갖고 있다고 말한다.
