90년대 초반 캐나다, 캐러비안 출신 이민자인 홀어머니는 성인이 된 두 아들과 함께 살고 있다. 가난하지만 자신들을 열심히 부양하는 어머니를 위해 바르게 살려고 노력하는 동생 마이클과 힙합 가수를 꿈꾸는 형 프란시스는 서로 다른 삶을 살고 있으면서도 끈끈한 형제애는 변함이 없다. 하지만 어느 날, 프란시스가 꿈꾸었던 힙합 오디션에 문제가 생기면서 두 형제에게는 예기치 못했던 비극이 찾아온다.
