My Street

A documentary about Twarda Street in Warsaw. People living there lead a modest life, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Residents of Twarda Street still rely on crafts, services and some trade. Observational shots and narration by young inhabitants of the street create the mood of the place.

An interventionist documentary showing the phenomenon of widespread prostitution, maintained in the style characteristic of the "black series" of Polish documentaries of the mid-1950s. Staged shots at the Polonia café are juxtaposed with a documentary recording of arrests conducted by the police among Warsaw prostitutes and interrogations of the arrested.
The Children Accuse

One of several films by the Hoffman-Skórzewski duo, made as part of the "black series" of Polish documentaries showing social problems hidden from viewers behind the façade of socialist realist productions until the mid-1950s. The subject of the film are the effects of alcoholism, whose innocent victims are children.
Look Out, Hooligans!

A staged documentary that started the Polish Black Series. The film takes the form of a warning against indifference to the rogue behavior of hooligan groups and their pernicious effect on young people flowing into the cities.
