똑똑하고 충성스런 애견 PC와 함께 한가한 노년을 보내고 있는 알렉스(Alex: 노만 케이 분)는 어느 날 이상한 여인의 방문을 받는다. 그녀는 알렉스가 숨겨놓은 보석을 찾기 위해 그를 끈질기게 추적해 오던 킬러. 이를 눈치챈 알렉스는 죽음 직전에 보석이 숨겨진 장소를 암호로 담아둔 디스켓을 애견 PC에게 넘겨주고 이를 알렉스의 친구 수지(Susie: 캐롤라인 길머 분)에게 전하도록 한다.
킬러의 눈을 피해 무사히 집을 빠져 나온 PC는 수지의 집으로 가던 중 교통사고를 당하고 잭(Zac: 나단 카바넬리 분)이라는 소년의 집에서 치료를 받는다. 킬러의 음모와 보석의 행방이 달린 디스켓을 수지에게 전달해야 하지만 의사소통이 되지 않는 PC로는 속수무책. 그 때 PC는 컴퓨터 음성 프로그램을 통해 잭과의 의사소통을 시도하고 PC가 말하는 소리(Voice of PC: 빌리 코넬리 목소리 분)를 들은 잭은 기적과 같은 사실에 놀라 기절하고 만다. PC의 놀라운 능력을 알게 된 잭, 컴퓨터의 음성 프로그램을 PC의 목에 걸어주고 PC와 함께 킬러의 방해에 맞서 보석의 행방을 찾아내기 위한 모험을 시작하는데...
