평생 한방을 꿈꾸며 살아온 조 메이는 할아버지가 된 나이에도 그럭저럭 하루하루 살아가는 별 볼 일 없는 인생이다. 그러다가 폐렴이 걸려 5~6주 정도 병원에 입원했다가 나와 보니 집에 젊은 여자 제니와 여자아이 안젤리나가 살고 있다. 조 메이가 몇 주 동안 소식이 없자 사라진 줄 알고 집주인이 새로운 세입자를 들인 것이다. 갈 곳 없는 조는 집세를 나눠 내는 조건으로 제니 모녀와 동거를 시작한다. 아버지가 누군지도 모르는 불쌍한 안젤리나는 금방 조를 따른다. 조는 안젤리나에게 옥상에서 기르는 비둘기를 보여주기도 하고, 엄마가 여행 간 동안 안젤리나를 봐주기도 한다. 한편 제니에겐 경찰 애인 스탠이 있는데 자주 폭력을 일삼는다. 그 후 폭력의 횟수가 빈번해지고 강도도 세지자 별 볼일 없는 노인네인 조는 인생에서 마지막으로 중대한 결심을 한다. 조 메이는 안젤리나 모녀를 위해 그들을 괴롭히는 경찰 스탠을 죽이려 하는데...

Oliver (Pawel Szajda) is a talented young pianist of Polish American heritage. After breaking off his European tournée, he is forced to repay the tour organizers 250 thousand Euros. On his journey, he meets the very colorful character of (Janusz Gajos) a retired high school math teacher and a great enthusiast of the horse races.
