These conditions produced a series of box-office flops and pessimistic forecasts: maybe the best days of animation were over. Maybe the public didn't care. 헐리우드 최고의 스타 실베스타 스탤론, 성룡, 우피 골드버그를 주연으로 하고 사상 최대의 제작비를 투자하는 영화 가 기획, 제작된다. 하지만 제작자는 자신의 의견을 수렴하지 않는 유명한 감독을 쫓아내고, 신출내기 '알란'을 감독으로 지명한다. 부푼 마음으로 연출에 임하는 알란. 그렇지만 이들 스타들은 신출내기 감독 알란을 무시하고 제작자조차 스타들 편에 서서 감독의 연출 의도를 상업성이라는 명목하에 묵살해 버린다. 촬영이 진행될 수록 심한 갈등이 빠지는 알란은 결국 촬영한 필름을 가지고 잠적하는데...

Santa Claus abandons his workshop and Comet, his head reindeer, summons Orion and Orilla, "Soulmates" from another planet.
