First Surface
Director
A boy of twelve is afflicted with the memories of his entire lifetime, a disease with peculiar symptoms. He cannot separate remembrance from reality and finds himself appearing at random moments in his own existence. Manipulated imagery and untraditional structure are used to evoke this state of mind and chronicle how he comes to terms with his condition.
Testament of the Rabbit
Director
“…It is an evocative film that patiently draws the viewer into its world. Both beautifully shot and structured. TESTAMENT takes huge risks and emerges successful on both an emotional and intellectual level. This is what independent filmmaking is all about.” -Program, Bucks County Independent Film Fest Tour
Fla.Me.
Director
A film based on a comparison between two locations in Florida, and Maine. It is about remembrance, a subject it treats through the chronicling of events and the development of a idiosyncratic way of seeing. The audience is given the sense of viewing these places through the filter of time and the properties of a particular mind's eye. Original scenes are used much as an Impressionist uses a landscape: visual elements are emphasized using film techniques such as animation and optical printing, and the slow rhythms and random nature of recall are evoked through sound and structure.
Mansacts
Director
An exploration of three different approaches to filmic looking which plays off the audience's expectations of the narrative, documentary, and experimental genres of cinema.
Scotland with No Clothes
Director
“A portrait of a place: specifically, a waterfall in Scotland. However, more than just a recording of a landscape – it also captures a moment of experience – pure experience – pure cinema.” Program notes: Floating Beneath the Surface: Films of Ted Lyman, Echo Park Film Center, Los Angeles
Alleydog
Director
A visual passage between two perceptions of nature which utilises a wide range of image manipulation techniques.
SkyCap
Director
An imagistic, interior interpertation of the experience of being lost on a mountain.
