텍사스 작은 어느 마을의 유지 스탱글은 자신의 아래 부하들을 시켜 은행강도를 계획한다. 그리고 은행을 터는데 성공한 강도들이 의기양양 할 사이도 없이 말수가 거의 없는 생전 들어보지도 못한 사바타 라는 한 인간이 마을에 불쑥 나타나서는 이 은행강도들을 죽이고 강탈당했던 돈을 찾아온다. 그리고 사바타는 마을 유지의 탈을 쓰고 뻔뻔하게 지내온 주모자 스탱글을 협박하기 시작한다. 스탱글은 사바타에게 돈을 주기보다는 차라리 없애기로 마음을 먹고 암살자 총잡이들을 고요하여 보내지만 차례로 죽은 시체로 당하게 된다. 그러다 교묘하게 개조한 라이플을 악기 벤조를 연주하면서 자신을 나타내지 않고 다니는 무법자 이름도 악랑 같은 벤조가 이 마을에 나타난다. 거의 사바타와 대등한 사격술을 갖춘 무법자 벤조는 암암리에 스탱글과 사바타 양쪽으로부터 힘을 견주어 보는데...

After a stagecoach is robbed and the passengers murdered, a long and tangled series of surprise attacks and murderous double-crosses, leaves the coach's strongbox in the hands of the killer Lasky. In the opening moments of Kill, Panther, Kill! we see the daring escape, during a prison transfer, of master criminal Arthur Tracy. Tracy has been in stir for four years after thieving a fortune in jewels worth three million dollars. Now his loyal henchmen, Anthony and Smokey, lie in wait beside a desolate hillside road that’s apparently intended to be overlooking Malibu — but is actually some anonymous European location — as the LAPD van baring Arthur approaches. Unlike most Italian films of the 1940s, Augusto Genina's Cielo Sulla Palude opened in Venice rather than Rome. The film's American title was Heaven Over the Marshes, and indeed most of the story is set in the disease-ridden Pontine Marshes on the outskirts of Rome. This was the home of Maria Goretti, a pious young girl who was murdered by her would-be seducer. For reasons elucidated in the course of the film, Maria's short time on earth made her worthy of Sainthood, which was actually bestowed upon her shortly after the release of this film. Maria Goretti is well-played by Ines Orsini. Cielo Sulla Palude served as the comeback feature for director Augusto Genina, whose previous pro-fascist films had caused him to be blacklisted after WW II.
