Six-year-old Ataru steps on Elle's shadow during an impromptu game of shadow-tag; in Elle's culture, this is viewed as a marriage proposal. Eleven years later, Elle returns to Earth in order to marry Ataru — by which time not only had he forgotten the events of his childhood, but he was also going out with Lum. The rest of the plot focuses on Lum's attempts to prevent the marriage. The film was directed by Mamoru Oshii who was mad at the many requests that the producer made of him to alter the movie. Rumiko Takahashi considers this film her favorite and it is the most true to the original series.

Unico the Unicorn has the amazing power to make anyone he meets happy. Whether it's because of his personality or the powers of his horn, no one knows. However, the gods become jealous of Unico, thinking that only they should be able to decide or allow people to be happy. Unico is banished to the Hill of Oblivion, and the West Wind is ordered to take him there. She can't stand giving this fate to Unico, so Unico's adventures begin, as the West Wind takes him from one place and time to the next, in a neverending journey to escape the wrath of the gods.

고교 테니스부에 들어간 오카 히로미는 귀신코치 무나카타 진으로부터 재능을 보여, 엄격한 지도와 라이벌의 질투를 견뎌내면서 몸과 마음이 강인한 테니스선수로 성장해 가는 스포츠 드라마. 1973년부터 소녀만화잡지에 연재된 동명만화가 원작으로, 텔레비전 애니메이션으로도 동시에 방송되어 소녀들에게 압도적인 인기를 얻었다. 본 작품은 1970년대에 일본만화 애니메이션계에서 유행한 인내와 노력에 의해 자기를 성장시켜 가는 “스포츠 근성”을 다룬 대표작. 작년(2011년) 67세로 별세한 감독 데자키 오사무는 1970년대에 애니메이션에서 다채로운 표현 기법을 개척한 인물(대표작은 한국에서도 방송된 텔레비전 애니메이션「내일의 조」(1970). 본 작품에서도 리미티드 애니메이션 표현 기법을 대담하게 활용한 멈춤 그림과 스피디한 화면분할 그리고 극적인 순간을 강조하는 되풀이 기법 등 독창적인 연출이 여기저기서 보인다. 영화감독 오시이 마모루는 이 작품을 수 차례 보며 연출 기법의 기초를 배웠다고 한다
Animation
"검시보고 사법 해부는 정밀과 엄중을 다한 결과 본 수형자가 루팡 본인이라는 사실은 의심할 바 없는 진실이다. 하지만, 그 사실을 믿으려 하지 않았던 남자가 있었다." 당연히 제니가타 경부는 과거의 경험에서 루팡이 죽을리가 없다며 그가 매장된 묘지를 향해, 유체를 확인한다. 관짝에 들어있던 루팡에게 말뚝을 박아 끝을 내려고 한 그 순간, 시체는 대폭발을 일으키며 어디선가 익숙한 특유의 웃음소리가 들려오는 것이었다. 루팡 3세였다. 루팡은 살아있었던 것이었다. 경악한 제니가타였지만, 사실 루팡 자신도 자신이 죽었다는 소문을 듣고, 그걸 확인하기 위해 온 것이었다. 제니가타를 살짝 놀려먹은(…) 루팡은 그대로 도망친다. 하지만, 루팡이 살아있다는 걸 확인한 제니가타는 "네 녀석의 뼈에 이 손으로 계명을 새겨주마!!" 라고 마음을 다잡으며 루팡 체포를 맹세하며 개전을 알리는 방아쇠를 당겼다.
