영화감독이 되기 위해 고군분투하는 벤과 영화제에서 일하는 여자친구 미코는 둘 다 일본계 미국인으로 캘리포니아에 살고 있다. 아시안 여자친구를 두었음에도 벤의 행적은 조금 이상하다. 백인의 금발 여성이 나오는 포르노를 챙겨보고 그런 외형을 가진 여성에게 집적거린다. 미코가 인턴십을 위해 잠시 뉴욕으로 떠나고, 홀로 남은 벤은 마음 가는 대로 행동해보며 자신의 정체성을 탐구한다.
