National Audit Bureau member Hajime Matsudaira (Shinichi Tsutsumi), Tadako Torii (Haruka Ayase) & Asahi Gainsbourg (Masaki Okada) travel from their homebase of Tokyo to the city of Osaka. Their mission is to discover any financial irregularities & to ensure the correct use of federal money in the Osaka city government. Their initial audits go smoothly, but things turn more interesting once they enter the Karahori shopping district - the area with a long history reaching back to the Meiji era.

1936년 5월 세계 제 2차대전이 세상을 파괴할 때, 동경의 한 요정에서 성기가 절단된 남자의 시체가 발견된다. 피해자는 요시다야 요리점의 주인인 이시다 키치조, 가해자는 요시다야 요리점의 전 종업원 아베 사다. 둘은 이사다의 아내를 피해 밀회를 즐기던 중이었다. 사건이 있은 지 70 여 년이 지난 2008년 이시다(나카야마 카즈야)와 사다(스키모토 아야)의 영혼이 부활한다. 엽기적인 누드 사진을 찍는 사진가 이사다의 눈에 사다의 원혼이 보이기 시작한다. 어느날 해안에서 누드모델 촬영 중, 은발의 묘한 노신사 오오미야(우치다 유야)를 만나고 그의 아내 사다와 재회한다. 오오미야는 사다의 누드 사진 촬영을 부탁하지만 둘은 곧 서로를 인지하고 사랑에 빠진다. 이제 시공간을 뛰어 넘는 사랑이 펼쳐진다. 사건이 있었던 1930년대 도쿄에서 무슨일이 벌어지고 있었는지, 그리고 그들의 절박한 사랑을 다시 이루기 위해 현세에 다시 만나야 했는지, 그 질문에 답을 하고 있다. 초월적 존재들이 등장하여 둘의 엽기적인 사랑에 대한 재판을 한다. 과연 사랑이란 무엇인가? 육체적 사랑의 무의미함을 정의 내리고 둘을 심판하려던 초월적 존재들 앞에서 이시다와 사다는 70여 년이 지난 후에도 식지 않는 열정으로 사랑을 나눈다.

In 1943, as Japan's WWII effort falters, a vice-admiral proposes training squadrons of "volunteer" flyers to crash their armed planes into Allied warships. Yarn follows the lives of kamikaze pilots, as remembered by an aging Kyushu restaurateur who cherishes their memory. Honoring the dead and multiple military anthems may stir the soul of some Japanese, but elsewhere auds will make a one-way trip for exits. Battle scenes are well-executed and script delivers some memorable scenes, but overall competent helming and thesping are powerless over writer-cum-Tokyo governor Shintaro Ishiara's repetitive storytelling. A post-war postscript adds considerable length to an already over-extended narrative. Tech credits are good quality.

Jidai-geki period / folklore type stories that were comissioned by the Kumamoto prefacture of Kyushu island in 1996 and filmed over a period of three years. Kumamoto Monogatari is a 2002 omnibus which includes the three short films: Zuiketsu Genso: Tonkararin Yume Densetsu, Kikuchi-jo Monogatari: Sakimori-tachi no Uta, Onna Kunishuu Ikki.

Produced for Fuji TV in 2000, the film reinterprets the story of a special samurai force - the Shinsengumi - at the end of the Edo period.

Kikuchi-jo Monogatari: Sakimori-tachi no Uta is a 2001 Japanese historical drama directed by Takashi Miike. It is one of three historical films included in the 2002 DVD compilation, Kumamoto Monogatari. The other two are Zuiketsu Genso: Tonkararin Yume Densetsu and Onna Kunishuu Ikki, both also directed by Miike.

Suzuko, a woman in her twenties who has a brother with political problems (due to communist reprisals), lives for over five years in a love affair with Tate who's a young lieutenant in the Army, ultimately becoming a right-wing fundamentalist revolutionary. Unlike the Yoshikawa Eiji novel which is not historically accurate, this film offers a new view of Japan’s greatest hero! The film is based on the novel by Kosuke Gomi!
