맥스(Max Donigan: 척 노리스 분)와 리오(Leo Porter: 루이스 고셋 주니어 분)는 친구 사이로서 수많은 모험을 즐기며 사는 젊은이들이다. 최근 중동의 사막지에서 구사일생으로 살아 돌아온 그들은 그런 생활을 관둘까 생각하고 있던 중에 패트리샤(Patricia Goodwin: 멜로디 앤더슨 분)라는 미모의 아가씨가 그들 앞에 나타나 한장의 보물 지도를 보여주며, 신비한 인디언 전설과 함께 엄청난 보물이 숨겨져 있다는 얘길한다. 그러면서 그녀는 둘에게 보물을 찾으면 50대 50으로 나누는 조건으로 함께 모험의 길을 떠날 것을 제의한다. 리오는 약간 내키지 않으나 맥스가 강권하여 둘은 승낙한다. 그러나 그 순간부터 세 사람은 인디언들의 표적이 되어 위험한 고비를 숱하게 넘기게 된다. 지도에 적힌 동굴에 도착한 일행은 황금대신 한 자루의 신비한 단검을 입수한다. 인디언 예언가 톨 이글(Tall Eagle: 윌 샘슨 분)의 도움으로 인디언들의 저주를 모면한 일행은 동굴에서 얻은 정보를 토대로 금을 찾아 산 미구엘로 간다. 그때부터, 불의 전사의 후예라는 엘 코요테(소니 랜담 분)의 끈질긴 추적을 받으며, 중남미의 불안한 사회환경 속에서 숱한 죽을 고비를 넘긴 끝에 마침내 사원에 도착하나 엘 코요테의 함정에 빠져 최대의 위기에 빠지나 모험으로 단련된 이들은 엘 코요테를 물리치고 엄청난 황금을 손에 넣는데...

공군 조종사 출신이자 성공한 사업가인 해리 미첼은 아내인 바바라 몰래 시니라는 젊은 여자를 만나고 있다. 어느날 해리는 아내에 대한 죄책감으로 괴로워하다가 결국 시니와 헤어질 결심을 한다.

셔머 고등학교의 토요일 아침. 문제아들이 벌로 토요일에 등교하게 된다. 부모에게 늘 인정받지 못하고 무시당하자 불량배가 된 존(John Bender: 쥬드 넬슨 분), 승부에 집착하는 아버지(Andy's Father: 론 딘 분) 때문에 동료 선수를 괴롭힌 레슬링 선수 앤디(Andrew Clark: 에밀리오 에스테베즈 분), 성적 때문에 스트레스를 받다가 자살 기도까지 한 천재 브라이언(Brian Johnson: 안소니 마이클 홀 분), 부모의 주도권 다툼에 가정에서 만족을 얻지 못하고 사치와 낭비로 소일하는 부잣집 딸 클레어(Claire Standish: 몰리 링왈드 분), 부모의 주의를 끌기 위해 이상 성격을 나타내는 알리슨(Allison Reynolds: 앨리 쉬디 분) 등이 한 교실에 모인다. 담임인 버논 교사(Richard Vernon: 폴 글리슨 분)는 학생들에게 자기 자신에 대해 글짓기를 하라고 시킨다. 다섯명의 문제아들은 토요일 하루를 같은 교실에서 다투고 논쟁하고 화해하면서 꼭 닫았던 마음의 문을 열고 서로 좋은 친구가 된다. 고민거리는 서로 달랐지만 공통점은 가정의 불화와 부모의 기대에 대한 중압감이 원인이었음이 밝혀진다. 드디어 헤어질 시간. 이들은 '토요일의 아이들'이라는 제목으로 담임에게 편지를 남긴다. 교사가 편견을 갖고 한사람 한사람에게 문제아 딱지를 붙이는 것 그것이 바로 문제라는 것.
