영화의 시작은 스파이스 걸스가 1집의 대대적인 성공으로 인해 상대적으로 팬들과 매체들로부터 받는 부담감에 힘들어하는 모습을 보여준다. 한편, 그녀들은 'Daily Event'라는 타불로이드 기자의 표적이 되고 있는데 이 신문은 스타들의 광적인 팬이나 파파라치들과 연계해서 기사를 쓰기도 하고 라이벌끼리의 경쟁을 부추겨 이슈화하기도 한다. 스파이스 걸스의 다큐멘터리를 제작하기로 한 제작사 사장과 감독 스리스, 그리고 사악한 근성을 보여주는 편집장 마틴을 비롯한 카메라맨 케빈은 그녀들의 어두운 면까지 들춰 내려고 뒤를 밟는다. 사진과 비디오 촬영, 음악 녹음 장면과 TV쇼 출연들을 통해 우리는 그녀들을 좀 더 자세히 들여다 볼 수 있으며 전혀 예상치 못했던 생각과 행동으로 놀라기도 할 것이다. 이 영화에서 보여주는 에피소드 몇 장면을 살펴보면 MEL B가 TV쇼를 통해 자신이 꼭두각시처럼 비춰지는 것에 대해 강한 반발을 보여 다시 한번 걸 파워의 의미를 되새기게 했으며 GERI는 가구를 개조시켜 주겠다고 찾아온 덩치 큰 낯선 사내들의 위협을 피하느랴 고통스런 시간을 보내는 이야기도 나온다. 'BABY SPICE'라고 불리우는 것에 불만을 품은 EMMA가 섹시한 스타일로 변신하려고 노력하는 과정과 엄청난 스피드로 달리던 모터 보트 사고로 VICTORIA가 죽은 척 가장하는 연기, 그리고 MEL C가 황당하게도 축구 선수로 활동하는 꿈도 꾼다.

영국 사람들은 압정이나 단추, 우표 같은 작은 물건이 없어지면 "바로워즈"가 가져갔다고 믿는다. 빌려가는 사람들이란 뜻의 바로워즈(borrowers)는 몸집이 새끼손가락만하고 마루 밑 같은 보이지 않는 곳에 사는 상상 속의 요정들이다. 그런데 발견되면 뭉개질 확률이 크므로 사람 눈에 띄는 것은 금기사항이다. 문제는 이들에게도 일상용품이 필요하다는 사실. 그래서 바로워즈들은 사람들의 물건을 빌린다. 물론 허락 따위는 받지 않는다. 이들이 진공 청소기를 돌리기 위해서는 어떻게 해야 할까. 그들은 특수한 안전밸트로 이를 해결한다. 작은 사람들의 눈높이로 본 큰 세상의 물건들. 이 어울리지 않는 대칭성이 이 영화의 상상력이자 재미이다. 그렇다고 예의없는 종족은 아니다. 이들의 두 가지 신조는 "첫째, 인간의 눈에 띄지 않는다. 둘째, 필요한 만큼만 빌린다"이다.피터 휴위트 감독의 에선 이런 바로워즈 일가가, 착한 주인댁을 몰아내고 집을 철거하려는 나쁜 변호사를 혼내주고 집을 되찾아준다. 실물보다 14배나 큰 세트와 아기자기한 특수효과를 활용한 신나고 유쾌한 환상모험극.

When the British Amnesty shows finally resumed in 1987 after a six-year hiatus, the show format was retooled in an effort to take advantage of the growing number of rock musicians supporting Amnesty. Instead of the live show being primarily a comedy show with a few musical cameos, the event made a point of giving equal emphasis to the comedy and the music.
In April 1986, inspired by the previous summer's bombastic Live Aid event and the success of Amnesty's first four Secret Policeman's Ball shows, the UK's alternative comedy scene (and a few of the old guard) put on a fund-raising comedy revue at The Shaftesbury Theatre, London. The show's took place on 4-6 April, a recording was broadcast by the BBC on 25 April.
The Dangerous Brothers was a stage and TV act by anarchic comedy duo Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson, performing respectively as "Richard Dangerous" and "Sir (or occasionally Lady) Adrian Dangerous". Although originating before the show, they appeared in a number of brief sketches in the 1980s TV programme Saturday Live. Eventually being banned for being "too sexy and too violent", they staged a protest by returning as 'The Ben Elton Brothers', and blowing up the car park at LWT Studios. One of the final sketches prepared for Saturday Live was entitled 'Kinky Sex'. This fell foul of Channel 4 censors who banned it. The duo responded in the sketch Dangervision by apparently hijacking the programme and blowing up the wall on which the show's logo was painted in graffiti art. The banned sketch, which by modern standards seems fairly tame, was finally released on a compilation video The Dangerous Brothers present: World of Danger.
