아강(성룡 분)은 미국에 살고 있는 삼촌 마표(동표 분)로부터 자신의 결혼식에 쓸 금장식과 선물을 갖고 오라는 초대장을 받는다. 미국에 도착한 아강은 삼촌의 결혼 상대자가 흑인인 휘트니라는 것과 그곳의 갱들이 우글거리는 적색지대라는 사실을 알게 된다. 아강은 옆집에 살고 있는 소년 대니의 친구가 되는데 대니는 휠체어를 타는 장애자다. 마표는 자신의 슈퍼마켓을 독신녀인 엘렌(매염방 분)에게 팔게 되고 아강과 엘렌은 서로에게 좋은 인상을 받는다. 마표는 신혼여행을 떠나고 엘렌은 아강에 슈퍼마켓에서 근무할 것을 제의한다. 장사가 잘 되어갈 무렵 슈퍼마켓에 갱단 펑크족이 들어와 장사를 방해하자 아강은 뛰어난 무술로 갱들을 보기좋게 물리친다. 집으로 돌아가던 아강은 펑크족 두목 토니의 애인인 낸시(엽방화 분)의 유인에 걸려 펑크족들로부터 공격을 당한다. 다음날 다이아몬드를 둘러 싸고 마피아간에 싸움이 벌어져 도심일대가 교통이 마비되는 사건이 발생한다. 한편 우연히 사건현장에 있던 펑크족 일원이 다이아몬드를 훔쳐 달아나다가 마피아로부터 쫓기게되자 다급해 진 펑크족은 다이아몬드를 대니가 탄 휠체어에 숨긴다. 그후 대니의 집에 들른 아강은 낸시가 대니의 누나임을 알게 되고, 낸시와 친해진다. 저녁에 낸시가 일하는 나이트 클럽에 놀러간 아강은 낸시와 즐거운 시간을 갖는다. 그 무렵 애인을 빼앗겨 자존심이 상한 토니와 그 일당은 슈퍼마켓을 닥치는대로 부순다. 그때 갑자기 마피아가 나타나 펑크족 일원을 납치하여 다이아몬드의 행방을 묻는다. 슈퍼마켓이 부서진데 대해 화가 난 아강은 낸시와 함께 펑크족의 아지트를 찾아가 토니 일당과 싸움을 벌인다. 그러는 도중 마피아가 나타나 토니와 낸시등을 인질로 삼고 아강은 마피아 단원에 이끌려 다이아몬드를 찾으러 대니의 집에 들른다. 대니의 집에 도착한 아강은 마피아일당을 따돌린 후 미국의 FBI에 연락해 마피아 일당과 일대 접전을 벌이는데.

청나라 말의 어느 겨울, 광동성 광주에서 멀리 북경까지 약재를 구하러 떠났던 보지림의 황기영(적룡 분)과 아들 황비홍(성룡 분)은 인삼을 국진사 짐 속에 넣어 세관을 피한다. 황비홍은 진사 짐속의 인삼을 다시 훔치러 갔는데 마침 다른 사람이 그 짐 속에서 물건을 꺼내 본다. 이때 경찰이 지나가자 인삼을 그 사람에게 밀어넣고 밖으로 나온다. 황비홍은 취권으로 도둑과 대결한다. 도둑은 도망가고 황비홍은 기차에 오른다. 경찰은 진사의 짐을 찾기 위해 기차를 조사한다. 황비홍은 수색당하면 세금을 내지 않은 것을 들키므로 긴장한다. 그러던 중 장소사(유덕화 분)의 도움으로 일이 마무리된다. 보지림으로 돌아와 약상자를 보니 옥쇄가 들어 있었다. 황비홍은 인삼을 찾던 중 무술지도자인 찬을 알게 된다. 이자는 취권을 쓸모없는 권법이라 여긴다. 이럴 쯤 진사의 짐을 훔치던 기란자가 인삼을 안고 취권하는 자를 찾아오나 황비홍은 만나지 못하고 찬을 만난다. 기는 찬 밑에서 무술을 배운다. 후에 알고보니 가야말로 만청 최후의 무술인이었다. 국가의 보물인 옥쇄를 찾으러 나섰던 것이다. 기와 황은 옥쇄를 찾던 중에 기는 무술관 앞에서 죽고 황, 찬 둘이 옥쇄를 찾으러 간다. 찬은 황에게 다시 취권을 연습하길 권한다. 예전에 취하면 잔다는 이야기를 들은 황은 하지 않으려 한다. 이에 흥분한 찬은 폭포에 뛰어들고 황이 구해낸다. 다시 옥쇄를 훔치는 것을 시도하고 결국은 성공한다.

중국 공안인 양건화와 월남 군인인 정봉은 서로의 의견이 달라 헤어지고 만다. 홍콩으로 건너간 정봉은 옛 월남군인이었던 부하들과 강도짓을 한다. 한편, 홍콩 경찰은 연속적으로 강도사건이 발생해 어쩔수 없이 중국 공안국에 도움을 요청하자 중국 공안국에서 양건화를 보내 자료협조를 하기로 약속한다. 홍콩에 온 양건화는 명경관과 아룡과 함께 수사하던 중 정봉의 아지트에서 포왕이라는 폭탄전문가를 체포하게 된다. 정봉은 포왕을 구출하기 위해 일부러 양건화에게 접근, 포왕을 구해내게 된다. 결국 양건화는 정봉을 의심하게 되고 조사끝에 그가 중앙은행 설계사와 은행을 털 계획이라는 것을 알게 된다. 끝내 양건화와 아룡은 은행에 들어가 정봉일당과 혈투를 벌여 범인들을 모두 처치하다 정봉과 격투중 지하터널의 폭발로 지하문이 닫히자 정봉은 자기를 희생하여 양건화를 구해준다. 이에 양건화는 정봉을 부르며 눈물을 흘린다.

May is bored with her boyfriend, and leaves for Europe with another guy. Frankie tries dirty tricks to snare first Ann then Betty, and he involves Connie in a blackmail scheme. This results in innocent people getting killed, and a gory gun battle for revenge, which leaves only one of the story's characters alive at the end. The sequel, Body Lover, starts in the same scene as the finish of HK Eva.

Siu-Fung (Lydia Sum), an owner of a pizzeria, unexpectedly succumbs to a heart attack. However, her spirit was unable to cross over to the other side, thus, she resurrects into the body of a young woman (Maggie Cheung). Lee Kam Lun (Alan Tam) is an intelligent but psychologically unstable young man who is very filial and loves his mum(Pik Wan Tang) dearly. Director Ronny Yu (Fearless, The Bride With White Hair) gives us an effective and tight psychological thriller with some dark humor and plot twists in one of his earlier directorial effort.
