1978년 어느 한산한 도로에 차 한대가 지나친다. 부랑자가 차를 태워달라고 요구하자 차에 탄 중년의 남자는 험한 동네라 태워줄 수 없다고 한다. 부랑자는 킨타 퍼니라는 연쇄살인마 때문이냐고 묻자 중년 남자는 '그에 대해 들어본 적이 없다'라고 대답하고 차를 타고 떠난다. 그러다가 다시 후진하더니 갑자기 부랑자를 향해 질주한다. 쾅! 이 남자가 바로 연쇄살인마였던 것. 그는 사신의 지시대로 죽을 때까지 계속 살인을 저질렀고 결국 가스실에서 최후를 맞는다. 그리고 현재, 살인마를 잡아 영웅대접을 받은 보안관은 주유소에서 아들(역시 보안관)과 식사를 하다 카지노 강도들과 마주치고 그 와중에 가스실에 처형되었던 리커까지 나타난다.
