Matúš is a talented musician, who left his successfully developing career, when his adoptive mother fell ill. After her death, he’s living with his stepbrother Dávid and together they go through life, each in their own way. While Dávid takes what life gives him, Matúš feels frustrated by his failed ambitions. On his way to their fulfillment, he meets his old schoolmate Albert, who opens doors to the „better“ world for him.

나치 점령 기간에 고문과 투옥 생활을 견뎌내었으나 1950년대 초 체코슬로바키아에서 여성으로서는 유일하게 정치적 재판의 사법 살인 희생자인 변호사이자 정치인 및 여성 권리 운동가였던 밀라다 호라코바에게 영감을 받아 제작된 영화이다. 영화는 도덕적 원칙을 중요시하는 한 여자의 1937년에서 1950년 사이에 관한 이야기이다. 이 사람은 도덕적 원칙을 너무 중요시하여 자기 자신과 가족들을 희생하면서까지 마음보다는 신념을 따랐다. 당시 체코슬로바키아 대통령은 알버트 아인슈타인, 윈스턴 처칠 그리고 엘리너 루스벨트와 같이 저명한 인물들로부터 자비를 베풀라는 요청을 받았지만 결국 밀라다 호라코바는 1950년 6월 27일에 처형되었고 자유와 민주주의를 위한 투쟁의 상징이 되었다.

It is Marta herself who tells us her life story and how the Soviet invasion in Czechoslvakia in 1968 changed her life. Because of her deep involvement in the Prague Spring movement, she went from being the most popular singer in the country to being banned and suffering a sudden removal from the public scene by the new authorities imposed from Moscow. She refused to escape to exile and together with other banned intelectuals and artists became a disident instead. Blacklisted and persecuted by the secret police, she also suffered the betrayal of beloved people who were collaborating with the regime.

Soon she feels drawn to Benes and all of a sudden she must make up her mind: Jarda is still sexually attractive to her, but Benes offers security, and her own body and mind may not pull at the same strand.

The film portrays the final days of the most famous Czech authoress, Božena Nìmcová, who in the mid-19th century dared to live a life free of social constraints.

1943년, 체코의 한 아름답고 평화로운 마을에 사는 조셉과 마리 부부. 행복하기 그지 없는 이들 부부에게 한 가지 아쉬움이 있다면 조셉이 불임이어서 아이가 없다는 것이다. 그러던 어느날, 다비드라는 이름의 유태인 청년이 부부의 빈방으로 숨어들면서 전쟁이 시작된다. 소심한 조셉에겐 감당하기 어려운 사건이었지만, 겁에 질려 큰 눈을 껌벅이는 청년을 외면할 수 없었다. 이제 이들 부부에게는 히틀러 모습의 나치 끄나풀인 호스트가 경계 대상 1호가 된다. 사실 조셉은 눈치를 못 채고 있지만 마리를 짝사랑하던 호스트가 시도 때도 없이 부부의 집을 방문하곤 했던 것. 그를 막지 못하면 유태인 청년과 마을 전체가 학살당할 위험에 처하게 되는데...

It is a film consisting of six short stories, which mostly tell in a black humorous, ironic, often bitterly bitter form about an ancient curse, human infidelity, strange deviations, an unexpected miracle and hypocritical forgiveness. They have their own pointed structure, specific atmosphere and way of processing, and yet they pass on motives to each other that communicate with each other and observe the same things from different angles.
