새 집으로 이사온 ‘에반’은 집 근처 숲에서 홀로 울고 있던 ‘사만다’와 친구가 된다. ‘사만다’는 ‘에반’에게 새 집 다락에 감춰져 있던 의문의 상자를 보여주며 그것을 통해 죽은 자와 대화할 수 있다고 함께할 것을 제안하고, 호기심에서 시작한 놀이는 돌이킬 수 없는 저주가 되어 두 사람을 죄어오는데… 상자를 여는 순간, 지옥이 시작된다!
