The body of Shinsuke Maeda, a wealthy older man, is discovered in his garden. While at first glance it appears that he missed his step while exiting into the garden and hit his forehead on a flowerbed rock, it is established that a safe installed in the living room has been emptied. It seems that, the night before, Maeda left the hospital he was staying at of his own will and came home, and was robbed immediately after returning. His daughter Yumie Nagano insists that Chikako Inui, a woman her father had been seeing, must be the perpetrator. She says that Maeda was thinking of getting married to Chikako soon. However, Chikako finds Yumie and her husband suspicious. Troubled by debts incurred by opening their ramen store, they pestered Maeda and he pushed them away. She calmly points out that Maeda gave her a will in which he left all of the 50 million plus yen hidden in the safe to her, so she had no reason to steal from him.

현대 - 거대 마화망 오로치가 해안을 습격하자 히비키가 도착해 전투를 벌이지만 별다른 상대가 되지 못한 채 히비키는 부상을 당하고 쓰러진다. 히비키가 누워있을 동안 오로치를 잡을 방법을 찾기 위해 옛 자료를 뒤적이던 이치로는 어떤 자료에서 아스무와 같은 이름을 가진 사람이 나온다면서 그 책을 아스무에게 보여준다. 전국시대 - 어느 해안 마을에서는 오로치에게 마을의 소년, 소녀들을 제물로 바치면서 목숨을 부지해가고 있었다. 그러던 어느날, 마을에 남은 소년 소녀 3명 중 한 명인 스즈(아키라와 동일 배우)마저 제물이 되고, 다음 차례로 히토에(히토미와 동일 배우)가 지목되자 마을을 구하기 위해 아스무는 마화망을 잡으러 다닌다는 오니를 섭외하겠다고 촌장에게 건의하고 촌장의 두 딸(카스미, 히나카)과 함께 오니를 찾으러 여러 마을을 돌아다니게 된다. 그리고 서글서글한 성격의 미청년 오니인 카부키와 만나게 된 아스무 일행은 추가로 오니를 섭외하려 다니고, 그 와중에 은퇴 오니인 히비키와 만나게 된다. 그러나 아스무는 어떤 이유에서 히비키를 적대시하는데...

가족들과의 일상적인 삶에 지친 여고생 노리코는 인터넷으로 알게 된 친구를 찾아 도쿄로 가출한다. 우에노 역에서 노리코는 구미코를 만나고 그녀와 함께 외로운 사람들의 가족을 연기해주는 대행업을 시작한다. 그 무렵 신주쿠 역에서 여고생 54인의 집단자살이 벌어지고, 노리코의 아버지가 딸을 찾아 올라오면서 점차 그들 사이의 긴장이 고조된다.

Shouichi encounters his old friend and caretaker Dr. Higashi Kunieda. Dr. Kunieda, a friend of Yoshihiko Misugi, took care of him while he was hospitalized with amnesia. After catching up on a year of separation Shouichi abruptly leaves to house to fight an Unknown as Agito Burning Form. Unfortunately, after the Unknown flees Shouichi loses control of himself and attacks Dr. Kunieda, who followed Shoucihi and watched him transform. Dr. Kunieda managed to calm him down but Shouichi becomes to afraid of himself and runs away.
